school days

Here's a pic of Izzy with one of the pre-k teacher assistants (Candace) who sits with her during circle time.

Niecie told me the first day at pre-k the kids were all questioning what had happened to Izzy and she wasn't sure what or how much to tell them. I told her to tell them that Izzy got into the swimming pool without her mommy or daddy and that they must be very careful when around water without an adult. She went back the next day and told them that and one of the little boy's parents said he came home and said, "I don't know what happened, but she got in the water without her parents and now her arms and legs don't work." I think it is great that they are learning water safety. They all want her to talk to them and ask everyday, "when will she talk to us?" She will talk. I just know it.

Niecie also said that they left pre-k to do visual therapy. Izzy fussed and fussed so Niecie asked her what she wanted. She said do you want to go back to pre-k, more fussing. Do you want to go to see Ms. Barbara? More fussing. So Niecie said, "Okay Izzy, I don't know what you want to do. You are going to have to help me out here." So she said one more time, "Do you want to go to pre-k?" and Izzy looked straight in her eyes like, "finally" and then she said, "or do you want to go see Ms. Barbara," more fussing. They went back to pre-k and the fussing went away and she was a happy girl again. She really likes the kids in the pre-k class.

I left my camera with Izzy today to get pics and Niecie is going to ask some parents tomorrow for permission to take their pics playing with Izzy.

Oh how sweet! Ya know, you can never tell how children will react to other children that arne't like them. I am so proud of those kiddos for embracing Izzy the way they did. That makes my heart feel so good! I think this year is gonna be simply amazing for her, I really do! :o)

Annie -

How exciting for you! I think Izzy knows exactly what's going on and what she wants. She's a fighter in every sense of the word, and I'm with you - She'll talk. She has too much determination not to! : )

Of course, she's going to talk! I can't wait for you to tell us what she says when it happens. It WILL happen, you know. That face shows way too much going on in there for it not to happen.

I am so excited that Izzy loves being in the pre k class.I love her long hair in those piggy tails she is looking so grown up. Ashleigh also thrives on being with regular kids and the hustle and bustle of kids around her. All the kids at preschool want to help with her AIAHP therapy and with meal times.

It sounds like Izzy is doing great. Justine's near drowning was 17 years ago. These kids are amazing. I can honestly tell you these children are a gift from god. Justine is truly an angel that touches everyone lives as I know Izzy does. These kids are truly fighters and never lose faith.

I just had a phone call from a woman that I work with. I remind her to check the website whenever something new has been posted. She called to tell me she was absolutely "amazed" (and uplifted) at the difference in Izzy. She could tell a big differnce in her expression and awareness. I've been logging on a couple of times a day just to look at her sweet picture.

I was praying for Izzy last night, praying thru the Matt 18:19-20. Had this image of my prayers adding to the Censer of prayers for Izzy that is filling up, and filling up and will be poured out in God's time. It was awesome and a privilege to pray for her.

How sweet that the children care to learn about her.

I loved that she told her teacher what she wanted!

I haven't heard your story before today.
Thank you for sharing it.
